The clash Saturday night between the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets lacked a whole lot of star power, as LeBron James, Anthony Davis and James Harden were sidelined due to injuries. Early in the third quarter, things got even worse.

Just a few minutes into the second half, Kyrie Irving and Dennis Schroder both got two technical fouls and were sent off. The incident began when Schroder tried to drive to the basket, and Irving was asked for an offense. While the Lakers were trying to take the ball out of bounds, the two point guards climbed into it a bit and they got double techniques.

The referees and several other players tried to separate them, and eventually Irving walked away. But he kept talking and soon earned another technical. Schroder also found another technique at some point in the chaos, although it is not entirely clear what he did to deserve further punishment, as the camera was not focused on him.

Anyway, they were both sent to the locker room early, and Irving threw his jersey in frustration on the stands. It was the first career output for both players and brought their strong matches to an end. Schroder had 19 points and four assists, while Irving had 18 points and four rebounds.
