Kevin Durant experiences 7-day quarantine due to exposure to COVID-19

NEW YORK – After being exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19, Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant faces a week-long quarantine as part of the league’s health and safety protocols, sources told ESPN.

Durant, who had COVID-19 in May, continued to register coronavirus antibodies, sources said. As of Monday afternoon, Durant had tested negative for coronavirus three times, sources said.

According to the Center for Disease Control, antibodies are “proteins that help fight infections and can be protected against the disease.” Scientists are still unsure whether the level of antibody bodies against immunity has been re-infected. The NBA’s COVID-19 protocols do not distinguish between players who have antibodies and those who do not.

In the week that Durant is missing, Brooklyn will play in Utah, Philadelphia, Memphis and Oklahoma City.

Durant, who missed the entire 2019-20 season with an injury to Achilles, started in all six Nets games this year. He averaged 28.2 points, 7 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game in 34 minutes of play.
