Katie Hill talks friendship with Matt Gaetz, allegations

Former ‘throuple’ Rep. Katie Hill appeals to former friend and colleague Rep. Matt Gaetz to be “held accountable” as “there is even a fraction of truth” for reports of sexual misconduct – despite defending the former police officer while she was embroiled in a sleep-related scandal her subordinate.

Hill recalled in an open call in Vanity Fair on Monday about the unlikely bond between herself and Gaetz, who is in the fight for his political life, following accusations. extortion plot.

The California Democrat (33) on the first term said she met the Republican (38), the second term, when she replaced him as the youngest member of the House Armed Services Committee.

Months later, when Hill was intensely investigating a three-way relationship with her then-husband and a female employee, and nude photos of her began to leak, Gaetz came to her defense.

“The silence of my own Democratic colleagues was deafening. I was crushed, though I understood. People were nervous. “Nobody wants to defend an abuser,” the former lawmaker explained.

‘Then, suddenly, Fox’s golden boy spoke to me. Matt was the first member of Congress to defend me publicly and unapologetically, saying that although I may have made mistakes, I was a victim in this circumstance. ”

The unlikely friends remained in good contact after Hill resigned in October 2019, she wrote, sending briefly to the 2020 presidential election, when Gaetz backed out to challenge the results and question the outcome.

‘When Matt doubled after the January 6 uprising, I wondered how I could ever consider ourselves friends. But in difficult times, the most unhappy people sometimes support you, ”she wrote.

Hill wraps around the allegations that Gaetz is currently facing.

‘If Matt Gaetz, despite his denial, did have sex with a minor, if he gave girls and young women drugs and money and gifts in exchange for sex, if he asked these girls and young women for other women for the the same purpose, and if he showed their colleagues images of naked women without their permission, he should be held accountable, ‘she said, although she did not specify what it would entail.

“Some of these actions are criminal and others should be,” she continued. “Everyone is morally reprehensible and unacceptable to a legislature.”

“If there is even a fraction of truth to these reports, he should resign immediately.”

A Gaetz spokesman could not be immediately reached by The Post for comment on Hill’s opinion.

Gaetz denied any allegations of sexual misconduct. In a provocative open at the Washington Examiner Monday, the disputed lawmaker said he “absolutely does not resign” because he blames the scandal on “political opponents.”
