Kamala Harris’s stepdaughter debuts on the catwalk during New York Fashion Week

Ella Emhoff, the stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris, made her surprise debut on the catwalk on Thursday after she became a fashion hit during the president’s inauguration in January.

Following the announcement she made with IMG Models last month following the ceremony, the 21-year-old daughter of Doug Emhoff, the second gentleman, took to the runway during a socially distant New York Fashion Week presentation by the label Proenza Schouler.

“I definitely lost some sleep the night before,” Emhoff admits during a conversation with label designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. “I mean, I’m walking for the first time, I’m in a professional environment for the first time … It was a very epic first experience with the fashion world.”

In the digital video, she walks around the Parrish Art Museum in New York in three different ways.

The first saw her fit her brand-name wire-goggles with gray trousers and a jacket, a black cardboard bag and cream-colored slippers. The second was a yellow colored coltop of the tie and black pants under a black leather trench coat. The third was a black wool jacket with matching pants. Everyone looks very different from her intoxicated Miu Miu coat that went viral during the inauguration.

“Long when I was younger, I wanted to be a designer,” she told CNN. ‘Then I took it a little more seriously, I started taking courses at Central Saint Martins over two summers … It definitely exposed me to the intensity of the design school. ”

On her Instagram page, Emhoff is holding a raffle to win a pair of pink striped pants she knitted, with the proceeds from two charities donating to black transgender women, For The Gworls and the Okra Project.

“I want to see guys, girls, people, all wearing striped colorful pants or my dresses,” she said as part of New York Fashion Week: The Talks. “I think it would be great.”
