JJ Watt receives offer worth $ 15MM- $ 16MM?

The JJ Watt whip starts to get hot. ESPN’s Dianna Russini reports that the three-time Defensive Player of the Year ‘received contract offers from several teams’. The most lucrative offer, according to Russini, is between $ 15 million and $ 16 million.

A handful of teams are constantly connected to Watt, including the Cleveland Browns. ESPN’s report states that it is uncertain whether the Browns are one of the groups that submitted an offer to the veteran passer. Cleveland is armed with more than $ 30 million per cap space and was previously considered a legal threat to sign Watt.

The bills, packers and titans were also listed as potential landing sites for the 31-year-old. Each of the three teams currently stays over the cap, so they have some financial hurdles to overcome before they could finally sign Watt on a lucrative contract. The Titans have already started making some cut-saving movies, including the post they expanded Adam Humphries from earlier today.

One team that apparently is not going to land Watt is the Steelers. Earlier this week, veteran NFL reporter John Clayton said Pittsburgh would not be a landing place for the former Texans standouts.

Watt may be getting older, but that does not mean he can still not be productive in the right role. His five pockets in 2020 were his lowest total in a 16-game campaign (but a half-and-half mentality would see a 16-game season in itself as encouraging). In addition, in 2020, Watt as the overall defender of Pro Football Focus’ no. 7 classified, with the advanced website praising the veteran’s work at running and passing.
