With the teams almost full The voice In season 20, the coaches started picking up everything on Monday to recruit their all-important contestants. Kelly Clarkson and Nick Jonas in particular have devised new audiovisual ways to play mudslinging and foul play, and the huge hilarity of the series has followed – especially when their PowerPoint presentations have fallen spectacularly.
First, when Kelly was hoping to win an American singer Jordan Matthew Young from the ’70s, whose cover of Keith Whitley’s “I’m No Stranger to the Rain” made him stand out as material from Team Blake, she’s actually trying to use that of Blake Shelton. own fiancé, Gwen Stefani, against him. Unfortunately for Kelly, her Adobe Premiere skills may use a bit of work, as her detached footage of Gwen, who is apparently campaigning for Team Kelly, could not convince the eagle eye Jordan. (I assume the poorly edited push between Gwen’s different hairstyles and sparkling outfits was the biggest point here.) Interestingly, Jordan seems to have been more threatened by Nick Jonas, the pop singing coach’s argument that it’s a ” disruptive “move would be to join Team Jonas. Eventually, Blake’s comparison with Jordan Church and Eric Church ended the deal, and nothing was interrupted. For once, Blake was honest and direct, and it paid off.
But Nick was not on top of getting really disruptive, and later for the night’s only four-chair contestant, 20-year-old sophistic pop singer Anna Grace, battled a slideshow of damning memes – including one depicting Blake who a beautiful yellow lab puppy with the white white block letters “PUPPY HATER.” Nick explains: “I broke the memes about this because the internet is not lying!”
“Well, I’m not a puppy hater. I want everyone at home to know that I am not a puppy hater, ”Blake explains. “I just happened to have a stranglehold on that particular puppy at that moment.” The out-of-context image was actually a sign of Nick’s first turn The voice, in Season 18, when Blake tried to recruit 16-year-old prodigy Tate Brusa by stopping the small cream-colored fluff named Snowflake and threatening: ‘If you do not choose me as your trainer, this puppy is going straight back to the animal shelter! ”

Savanna Woods, 26: “Zombie”
This nomadic singer-songwriter sees herself as a kind of rock-belter, but I don’t think she had a big enough voice or personality to bring it out. Savanna is no Dolores O’Riordan – or Miley Cyrus, for that matter. Even the coaches described her as a ‘relaxed’ person. She displayed an attractive rasp, but one that was more suited to less aggressive, less operational power ballads. Kelly’s hand hovered indecisively over her red button during most of Savanna’s performance, and she later explained why, ‘After she grew up, I wanted to hear what it would sound like when she came back and became small again.’
Who turned around ?: Nick and finally Kelly.
Outcome: Span Kelly. Nick played the Thunderstorm Artis card, which was not a bad strategy. (Thunderstorm was season 18 of Team Jonas’ artistic finalist, and he should have won that season.) But Kelly calls Savanna ‘cool as hell’ and describes her as’ if Patty Griffin and Nirvana ‘had a baby’, was’ a more effective step.
Rachel Mac, 15: “Let Him Fly”
Rachel is a young country singer and the daughter of a worship leader, but she was also trained in theater and procession. And on top of that, her voice tonight was unexpectedly soulful. There is layers to this girl! I have a feeling she can sing just about anything, and that would be interesting.
Who turned around? Not Nick.
Outcome: Team Jonas, of course. But it was clear that Rachel did really hoped to join Team Blake. She was mainly excited just to meet Blake, working on her own PowerPoint presentation of a Blake Shelton report she did in elementary school. I felt sorry for Nick for looking like such an afterthought to his own teammate. (It it might have been time to bring up that “PUPPY HATER” meme, but it probably wouldn’t have worked.) I think Rachel and Nick could have made contact because of their theatrical backgrounds – he was on Smash, after all! – but Blake promised to try to steal Rachel if he ever got the chance.
Lindsay Joan, 22: “Nightmare”
Another musical theater kid – one who grew up on a national tour with a Broadway company of Kinky Boots – Lindsay may have gone through a lot of drama also dramatic rendition of a Halsey hit. She made ‘Nightmare’ sound like a damn Melissa Manchester song. Lindsay later admitted that she had never been more nervous in her life, which was possibly the cause of her zealous attack. But she at least fully committed and paid attention, instead of being ashamed under pressure.
Who turned around? Nick and Blake. Kelly quickly regretted not spinning, especially when she found out that Lindsay had done her own Kelly Clarkson school report in 4th grade. (Lindsay got a B-plus, which is a little higher than I would audition her for.)
Outcome: Span Jonas. “The most important thing to move forward will be a combination of confidence in yourself and for your voice,” Nick said. “There are so many things we can do with choosing songs, and I want to get the chance to do that.”
Rio Doyle, 16: “When We Were Young”
This vicious torchbearer’s vibrato was completely out of control, so Nick did not turn around, and Kelly was cleared away by the way Rio ‘swallowed the words’. But she does sound shockingly mature for her age, with the kind of raw talent with which John can perform miracles. “Being 16 and tackling an Adele song is always a daring, risky step, and I thought, ‘This is the kind of artist I want in my team,'” he explained.
Who turned around? Just John, to his great surprise.
Outcome: Team legend.
Zania Alaké, 34: “Sweet Love”
This Detroit single and banker at the day / funk bandwoman at night was such a Team Legend material, with her silky Anita Baker cover, that I was amazed that any other coach even made the effort to turn around. But Kelly told Zania: ‘Your voice is so classic and timeless and filled with so much tone and butter and beauty.
