Rep. Florida State Attorney Matt Gaetz, who was involved in a federal sex trafficking investigation, has hired two top dog advocates to represent him.

The lawyers, Marc Mukasey and Isabelle Kirshner, come as an investigation into Gaetz intensified.

The House Ethics Committee on Friday announced an investigation into Gaetz over allegations of sexual misconduct. A New York Times report released last week found Gaetz facing a federal investigation into sex crimes, an investigation into whether he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old. had year old girl. Officials also want to determine if he violated sex trafficking laws.

The Florida Republican has not been charged, and he has repeatedly denied all the allegations. Instead, he put forward a narrative that says the federal investigation and these allegations are an extensive and complicated plan to blackmail him and his family for $ 25 million.

“The office will repeat itself, these allegations are blatantly false and have not been confirmed by a single person willing to put their name behind them,” Gaetz’s office said in a statement Friday.

The sin is nevertheless heated. And Gaetz hired well-connected power lawyers to help him move through the mess.

The lawyers ‘will fight against those who try to smear his name with falsehoods’, reads a statement from his office.

Marc Mukasey

Mukasey is a well-known lawyer with close ties to former President Donald Trump and his former personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

Mukasey and Giuliani were former legal partners. After they divorced, Trump himself was one of Mukasey’s first clients. He is currently representing the Trump organization in an ongoing criminal investigation into the former president’s tax returns done by the Manhattan district attorney’s office.

One of Mukasey’s most controversial cases involved Navy Seal’s Eddie Gallagher, who was acquitted and acquitted of war crimes charges.

Mukasey’s career and that of his father have been closely intertwined with the needs of top GOP leaders for years.

His father, Michael, was a district judge appointed by Ronald Reagan, Law & Crime reports. He also serves as the U.S. Attorney General under the George W. Bush administration.

Isabelle Kirshner

Kirshner is an outspoken critic of Trump and constantly blows him up in public. She previously referred to the former president as a ‘plague’ and an ‘existential threat’, according to Law & Crime.

As a lawyer, her record is characterized in part by male clients who engage in serious sexual abuse and misconduct.

She is a former assistant district attorney from Manhattan who represented former New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman after allegations of sexual assault and violence came against him. Schneiderman denied all allegations, but resigned from his position.

Kirshner’s also represents dr. Robert Hadden, the New York gynecologist accused of sexual assault. Among his accused was Evelyn Wang, the wife of the current mayoral candidate in New York, Andrew Yang. Evelyn said Hadden had sexually assaulted her several times during an OB-GYN visit while she was pregnant with her first child.

Hadden was charged last September from 1993 to 2012 with a pattern of sexual assault and abuse.

Neither Mukasey nor Kirshner immediately returned requests for comment from Insider.
