Here’s how to register for the COVID-19 vaccine in Florida

In the last days of 2020, people in Florida 65 and older began receiving their first shots of the coronavirus vaccine, but when and where the doses will be available will vary from country to country.

As of Dec. 28, Florida has vaccinated only three priority groups: health care workers, long-term care workers and residents, and people 65 and older. The healthcare group includes EMTs and paramedics as well as staff from the Department of Health.

Residents who fall under the groups should check their local health service websites for information on appointments and where vaccinations take place.

As the state receives more doses, more individuals among the first groups will qualify for vaccine priorities. Next will be frontline workers, such as grocery store employees, teachers and police, according to Governor Ron DeSantis.

Seminole County became the first site in Central Florida to deliver shots to people 65 and older, but the first day’s appointments filled quickly. Both vaccinations for Orange and Seminole are open to residents of the country.

Floridians are asked to be patient as the health department in the province draws up vaccination plans for millions of residents who meet the age qualifications. The state houses more than 4 million people aged 65 and older.

The vaccine is expected to be available to the general population only in the spring, including younger residents or non-frontline workers.

As of Dec. 28, the following counties in Central Florida have shared information to help people sign up for appointments and get more information about vaccine availability. This story will be updated as more provinces release details on the vaccination plan.
