A short video clip of a race between car rickshaws is shared on social media with the claim that it is from India. The caption to the video reads: “India’s version of Formula One Race. ‘

India Today Anti Fake News War Room (AFWA) found the allegation false. The video in question comes from a “Red Bull Tuk It” event in Sri Lanka.

When we did a reverse image search of key frames of the video, we found a longer version of the same event uploaded on June 30 on a YouTube channel called ‘RallySport Magazine’. The title of the video says: ‘An alternative alternative? Tuk It chases in Sri Lanka ”.

We also have the same video in a news release of β€œThe Financial Express”On 12 June 2020.

According to the article, the video is from ‘Red Bull Tuk It’, a two-day motor rickshaw race organized by Red Bull in Sri Lanka. Red Bull is an Austrian manufacturer of energy drinks.

We also have the official website of Red bull. According to the website, he has indeed organized a two-day car rickshaw race in Sri Lanka.

Upon closer inspection, we also found ‘Red Bull Tuk It’ logos on the automatic rickshaws in the video. The license plates of the car rickshaws in the video also do not match the Indian vehicle registration numbers.

The same video was also uploaded to Sri Lanka on June 3, 2020 by Reuters on its official Twitter tutorial.

According to a report by ‘International Business Times“, Red Bull has not yet held a” Tuk It “event in India. However, India has several other car rickshaw races such as’The Rickshaw Challenge“Which started in 2006.

It is therefore clear that the video in question originated from a car rickshaw race organized by Red Bull in Sri Lanka and not related to India.
