Detroit Lions Sign Former Saints TE Josh Hill

The Detroit Lions team has signed Josh Hill, the former team of the New Orleans Saints, the team announced Saturday morning.

Hill will be reunited with Lions head coach Dan Campbell, who has been his regular service coach for the past five years. Over time, Hill has evolved into a solid end that runs and catches the occasional. His best year as a receiver was in 2019 when he dragged 25 catches for 226 yards and three touchdowns.

Hill was cut by the Saints earlier in March in a move that saved the team about $ 2.5 million in much-needed headroom.

Hill’s signing comes just days after the Lions made their own move, releasing veteran Jesse James after two disappointing seasons in Detroit. The terms of Hill’s deal are not yet known, but his last contract was a $ 8.85 million deal with the Saints for three years. Hill turns 31 this year, so the chances are high that he will be at a cheaper price.

The Lions are now in a comfortable position at the end, with TJ Hockenson and Hunter Bryant finishing the departure. Detroit also signed Hunter Thedford and Alize Mack for future deals earlier this season.
