Dealers noticing Ram TRX will cost more than some supercars

Now that the 2021 Ram TRX is on the street and coming into the hands of customers, it seems inevitable that we will write this story. The Hellcat-powered truck starts at $ 70,095, according to Ram, but good luck finding it for anywhere nearby.

Jalopnik dug up a bit in the national inventory, and found several examples of the TRX for over $ 100,000 – and even one Launch Edition for $ 143,000. We expected some big comments here or there, but just about every TRX currently on sale in the country is listed for six figures. Uploading a truck on the configurator costs just over $ 90,000, but paying 20 percent or more does not make sense for a truck that will definitely slow down.

For some perspective, a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 has the performance figures to qualify it as a supercar. The sample with mid-range cars starts at $ 100,200 and will likely remain in the area for years to come. On the other hand, the Porsche delivers an impressive 414 horsepower (309 KW) from its 3.8-liter six, which is still about 300 horsepower (224 kW) less than the TRX. The Hellcat 6.2-liter V8 from the truck honestly produces a stupid 702 hp (524 kW) and 881 Nm (650 pounds).

Ford has not provided any details on the upcoming Raptor or V8-powered Raptor R, so it cannot be denied that the TRX is the current king of the hill in the truck world. We may now wonder when prices will fall again for the masses to earth – at least the masses who can afford an almost six-digit pickup.
