Dash camera video released of the pursuit of the Carroll County suspect who fired AK-47 at deputies – WSB TV channel 2

CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. Investigators have released the strip camera video of a chase and gunfire that injured three officers and killed one man in Carroll County.

Channel 2’s Audrey Washington attended the news conference held Wednesday at the Carroll County Sheriff’s, where the video was shown for the first time.

“When I watched the video, it really produced shivers in my spine,” said Ashley Hulsey, a spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office, Carroll County.

Cousins ​​Aaron Shelton (22) and Pier Shelton (28) are accused of leading a high-speed hunter as deputies of the sheriff and other officers before having a shootout.

Carroll County Sheriff Terry Langley said the incident started as a traffic stop on I-20 when the suspects were caught driving more than 100 mph.

The video begins minutes after they crashed into their car, following a police pursuit near Highway 61. The video is footage from Carroll County Cpl. Jamison Troutt’s patrol engine.

Troutt followed the chase behind Carrollton police when he heard the shooting and saw Carrollton Sgt. Rob Holloway. Other Carrollton officers stopped to provide assistance while Troutt continued.

There were more gunshots in the vicinity of Ithica Gin Road near a school. Deputies said both Troutt and Deputy Jay Repetto were looking for Villa Rica officer Chase Gordy, who was shot dead in the area.

Moments after officers arrived, the video showed Pier Shelton from the side of the road with an AK-47 as he started firing.

One of the bullets hit Repetto in the arm. According to the Carroll County Sheriff, Troutt and Repetto fired back. Pier Shelton was killed in the shooting.

Aaron Shelton was arrested and remains in jail unrelated. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is in charge of the investigation.

Carrollton police said Holloway is still in ICU but improving.
