Carson Wentz, Sam Darnold about to be traded?

With the top game of the season now completed and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers crowned as NFL Super Bowl LV champions, we are expected to go over a crazy off-season – one that has already started with a quarterback, including Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff – that has surprised many. Reports say we should expect more callers sooner rather than later. Here are the latest trade rumors I hear about Carson Wentz, Sam Darnold and others.

Will the Philadelphia Eagles trade with Carson Wentz?

ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz could be involved in a trade package within days. So, where will he end up?

Sources tell me that Chicago Bears are currently the forerunners to get Wentz into a deal. However, do not discount the Indianapolis Colts or San Francisco 49ers.

The situation for Wentz in Philadelphia deteriorated faster than anyone could have imagined, after the former selection in the first round a Four-year contract extension, $ 128 million, in June of 2019.

While the media reported a rift between Wentz and former head coach Doug Pederson, those with knowledge of the situation report that the relationship between the quarterback and the Eagles’ front office, as well as Pederson, is rapidly heading south during the season.

If and when Wentz is traded, Jalen Hurts will take over the reins as the starting quarterback for the Eagles.

What happens to Mitchell Trubisky when Carson Wentz is traded to the Chicago Bears?

If the Chicago Bears end up at Wentz, what happens to Mitchell Trubisky? The expectations are that Trubisky will end up with a team where he will have to compete for the starting lineup. The New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos were franchises that came to my attention.

Will the New York Jets trade Sam Darnold?

Carson Wentz is not the only quarterback who can be traded. Sam Darnold is the other quarterback whose name was recently launched as a signal caller. This is more the result of teams inquiring about Darnold, rather than the Jets actively buying their first pick in the first round of 2018.

Sources tell me they feel it’s a real possibility that the Indianapolis Colts will end up with Darnold. Yet the 49ers will also be in the mix.

If Chris Ballard, general manager of the Colts, and Frank Reich, head coach of Darnold, trade, it would be more than ironic. Most will remember that the Jets gave the Colts a bunch of Day 2 picks over two drafts. This enabled the Jets to move up three spots, from sixth pick to third pick, to secure themselves a quarterback in the 2018 NFL draft. Of course, quarterback Sam Darnold was.

Is it a mistake to trade Sam Darnold?

There are a number of people in the league who think it would be a mistake for the Jets to trade Darnold. As I reported in November, teams still believe that Darnold will be a good starter in the league if he is coached properly.

Even more, those I spoke to believe that Darnold is the perfect fit for the offensive system that will be implemented by the Jets’ new offensive coordinator, Mike LaFleur.

Marcus Mariota also on the move?

Finally, sources tell me Marcus Mariota is interested and will probably be traded by the Raiders. The former second overall pick signed a two-year deal with Las Vegas last year.
