The Apple Watch 7, Apple’s next-generation smartwatch, is possibly more watery than previous iterations. The company is apparently refreshing the portable features of swim detection ahead of the expected launch later this year.
According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple is working on a new swim tracking feature for the Apple Watch. ‘Gurman, however, did not provide details on how the new features would enhance the current Apple Watch Series 6 features for swim detection.
In fact, this internet is more or less a footnote in the report in which rumors about a robust Apple Watch are made public. Last month, people familiar with the project told Bloomberg that a discovery-friendly Apple smartwatch was coming for Garmin’s customers. The outdoor model can wear a rubbery exterior that is more protective than the well-known aluminum, titanium and stainless steel cases.
This version alone can support the advanced swim detection features. While the current Apple Watch gets 5 ATMs (swimming pool up to 50 meters / 164 feet), there is more water-resistant portable material out there. For example, the recently released Amazfit T-Rex Pro and Garmin Enduro are both rated as 10 ATMs.
In addition to better water resistance, most of the best sports watches also have military-grade durability ratings for temperature and scratch resistance.
Of course, swim tracking features can arrive independently of this so-called rugged Apple Watch. Instead, the next watchOS software update or an additional sensor in the flagship Apple Watch 7 could improve swim tracking.
Upgrading the swim detection can also not show up at all. Gurman is usually a reliable source for Apple rumors, but information about the company’s upcoming smartwatch was scarce. There is no guarantee that the little information we have heard is accurate.
We may start to see more credible leaks as we get closer to the Apple Watch 7 release date. The best Apple Watch to date is likely to arrive by the end of summer or early fall.
