Apple gives users another good reason to take the latest public beta for a test drive.

Hawk-eye Redditors use the public beta of iOS 14.5 noted that the assistant will ask the user when he asks Siri to play music to choose which music program he wants to use to play the song or artist. Normally, Siri is only the Apple Music app if an app is not specified. But as confirmed by Gizmodo and Siri asking to play ‘Phoebe Bridgers’ in iOS 14.5, for example, a menu with options for Apple Music, Spotify, Podcasts and for some reason Books will appear.

Reddit user maatjamm1, who shared the feature of the feature and had other music programs installed, also saw those programs on this screen.

If Spotify is selected in this menu, it seems that Siri is the app by default the next time it is asked to play music, but the feature is quite meager. When I tested the option to set my default music app as Spotify in iOS 14.5, Siri would sometimes use Spotify, sometimes open Apple Music, and sometimes open the same menu to choose from which app I want the song or music play. . However, colleagues who do not use the public beta did not have this option when they asked Siri to play music, so that’s something.

This is just another reason to check out Apple’s latest public beta, especially for those of us who don’t like Apple’s own services. Recently, the company facilitates us forcing us to use it. Last year, iOS 14 introduced the ability to change your preference email and browser applications to non-Apple services like Chrome and Gmail. The ability to change other default options will be welcome.

Another notable feature of the public beta of iOS 14.5 is the ability to use an Apple Watch unlock your iPhone while wearing a mask. Of course, you can only spend a few seconds manually entering your passcode, but listen, this makes the process of unlocking your phone while wearing a mask a little less annoying. I have tested it for the past few days and found it to work well.

In 2021, we are already saving time and streaming better. A small win, but I’ll take it.
