Aaron Rodgers beats Patrick Mahomes as favorite to be MVP

In Week 17, Green Rod Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is a major favorite to win the NFL Regular Season MFL Award after a dramatic shift in the odds on U.S. sports books.

Rodgers was a minor + 450 to win the award before last week’s games, behind Patrick Mahomes, quarterback Kansas City Chiefs, who has been the favorite since mid-November. But after Rodgers burned the Tennessee Titans down in the snow Sunday night, he moved past Mahomes to become the MVP favorite for the first time this season.

Rodgers is a -260 favorite at Caesars Sportsbook by William Hill, followed by Mahomes, whose odds after Week 16 drifted from -400 to +210.

Rodgers completed 21 of 25 passes for 231 yards and four touchdowns on Sunday in the Packers’ 40-14 victory over the Titans. He leads the NFL with 44 passing touchdowns and has a meaningful road game against the Chicago Bears this weekend. Mahomes and the Chiefs, on the other hand, have already locked up the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs and could possibly rest their franchise quarterback in Sunday’s home game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Packers can secure the number one spot in the NFC playoffs on Sunday with a win over the Bears.

At FanDuel, Rodgers’ MVP chance improved on Tuesday to -370. A FanDuel spokesman told ESPN that the move was based on a combination of Rodgers’ recent performance and some interest in the Green Bay neighborhood over the past two days.

DraftKings, where Rodgers was named as the favorite of -335, said its chances in the MVP market are mainly fueled by its recent performance.

Buffalo Bills full-back Josh Allen is 12-1 in the Caesars Sportsbook by William Hill, followed by Titans Derrick Henry at +5,000, Packers receiver Davante Adams at +7,500 and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson at +10,000 .
