heading a busy Thursday. Finally,

Striking spending on the economic calendar this week includes the National Association of Realtors’ existing home sales data for March and the Conference Board’s leading economic index for March, both on Thursday. On Friday,
IHS Markit
publishes both its Manufacturing and Services Purchasing Managers Index for April. The Census Bureau will also report sales of new single-family homes for March.
Finally, the European Central Bank will announce its latest monetary policy decision in Frankfurt on Thursday. The consensus expectation is that policymakers will keep their standard interest rate unchanged at half a point below zero.

The National Association of realtors report sales of existing homes for March. The consensus estimate for a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 6.3 million homes sold is slightly higher than the February 6.2 million. Existing home sales are slightly lower than the recent high of October last year, but stronger than at any time since the house bubble burst almost 15 years ago.
The conference board launches its leading economic index for March. Economists forecast a 0.6% month-on-month increase, following a 0.2% increase in February. The conference council’s latest forecast requires that gross domestic product will grow 5.5% this year.
Friday 4/23
American Express, Honeywell International,
Kimberly-Clark,
Regions Financial,
and Schlumberger, announce quarterly results.
IHS Markit is released both its index for manufacturing and services purchasing managers for April. The expectation is that a 60.3 reading for the PMI for manufacturing and a 60.5 reading for the PMI for services should be done. Both estimates are for three years for their respective indices.
The Census Bureau reports sales of new single apartments for March. Consensus estimates are for a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 831,000 homes sold, up from the 775,000 figure in February. Then the median selling price of a new home was $ 349,400, just shy of the overall December of $ 356,600.
