Washington interested in quarterback trading?

Although Washington signed it Ryan Fitzpatrick and expanded Taylor Heinicke this off-season the team remains in the most important position of the sport. The franchise may be willing to trade in a quarter.

Ron Rivera according to Tony Pauline of ProFootballNetwork.com wants to succeed in moving up for a passerby. Washington is believed to be high up Trey Lance, but there may be a catch. The WFT is not too interested in giving up a mountain of concept capital to move from no. 19 to no. 4 to climb, but Pauline notes that a quarterback moving to No. 8 spot will have an appeal to the franchise. A climb to the Falcons’ no. However, 4-slot should not be completely excluded.

Three QBs will be away at number 3, and the Hawks are in the game to pick the fourth. No draft has started with four consecutive full-backs leaving the board, and the Hawks are also interested in completing the board. However, many believe that Atlanta will choose Kyle Pitts. The Bengals do not take a quarter and do not sound too much to go out of their number 5 trade. Trading ahead of the Broncos (No. 9) may need Washington, and it will be interesting to see if the Panthers (No. 8) pull the trigger at the fourth or fifth QB prospect. The scenario is not off the table, even after Carolina acquires it Sam Darnold, although the Panthers now threaten as a team that can trade.

Washington may also have to compete with the Bears, though Pauline adds that, in addition to rumors, they will also be a second quarterback. It cost the 49ers two future first-round picks and a third round of 2021 to move up nine places this year. If one of the top five QBs moves to the bottom of the top 10, it will still be significantly needed, given the value these passers-by carry. Lance, who was not the 49ers’ pick at 3, could encourage Washington to do so. Justin Fields is also expected to be available outside number 3.

Rivera said Friday that the team is moving out of season – like the signing of Fitzpatrick, Curtis Samuel and William Jackson – created more flexibility in the concept.

I think [execs] Martin [Mayhew] and Marty [Hurney] and their guys really helped put us in a position where we really have to look for the best player available, but we always have to keep in mind what we feel is the real need“Rivera said via NBC Sports Washington. ‘I think what our front office did and what we could do in free agency really helped us. I think we liberated ourselves because of what they did. ”

Washington has signed Fitzpatrick for 2021; he turns 39 later this year. Heinicke was signed until 2022 and Kyle Allen can also be under team control during the ’22 season. He is bound by an ERFA tender. However, none of these players are a long-term option. Washington, after failing in his two attempts to find a true QB solution (Alex Smith, Dwayne Haskins), might like to address the issue in Rivera’s second draft.
