PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A large wine cellar near Eugene has informed its workers that they must provide proof by May 20 that they have received the COVID-19 vaccine.
Oregon Public Broadcasting reports that many workplaces weigh similar requirements.
King Estate Winery chief operating officer Brent Stone says the cellar has about 70 employees, and workers work close to bottling plants.
Stone says King Estate offered on-site vaccination clinics and paid an extra holiday as incentive, as well as sick time for vaccine recovery.
Liz Tippet, an associate professor at the University of Oregon, said employers usually have to vaccinate some of their workers, but she expects most do not go that far.
