MILWAUKEE (AP) – Health officials in Wisconsin reported that nearly a quarter of the state’s population completed the COVID-19 vaccine on Sunday.
More than 1.4 million people, who make up 24.3% of the state’s population, have been fully vaccinated by receiving the single dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine, or two doses of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.
Health officials have reported more than 36,000 doses of vaccine administered, bringing the total number of people who received at least one dose to more than 2 million, representing 37% of the population.
However, the daily number of cases has also increased. According to Johns Hopkins University researchers, the current average number of daily new cases has increased by 34% over the past two weeks. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported 569 new cases Sunday, as well as one new death.
During the pandemic, 6,677 people died in Wisconsin after contracting COVID-19.
