What to do with your COVID-19 vaccination card

Iowa (KCRG) – More than 700,000 Iowans have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and even more have received their first dose of vaccinations.

Beth Meyer, of Cedar Rapids, received her second COVID-19 vaccine in March and says she is happy to have it. ‘I had some symptoms after my first shot, but could barely see with the second shot. “Unfortunately I had COVID in November, so it was expected that it would have a few more symptoms,” says Meyer

Even with her second survey, Meyer says she plans to keep her vaccine card for the coming year, as a reminder and as a record. “I want to know exactly what dates I got, and I want to be able to show people exactly what shots I got and when. And it’s just good to keep a book and verify that I had my vaccine, ”says Meyer.

Sam Jarvis, division manager of health care for Johnson Health County, says the maps are important between shots for the two-dose vaccines to keep track of the dates for a second shot and to record information from both shots. But even after you have been fully vaccinated, it is a good idea to keep the card. ‘It’s part of your medical records. We want to encourage people to stick to it and keep it safe. We know that people have posted on Facebook and stuff, and it will definitely cover up your personal information, ”says Jarvis.

But for people who lose the card, or just are not sentimental and do not want to keep it, Jarvis says not to worry. It is recorded in immunization registers across the state, across the country. But as always, it’s part of your medical records. It has your information on it, ”says Jarvis.

The CDC recommends taking a photo of your vaccination card to have as a backup copy.
