Baby from Texas fatally shot by 3-year-old brother

HOUSTON Police believe a baby was fatally shot by his 3-year-old brother on Friday after the older boy found a gun in an apartment in Houston.

The baby was shot in the abdomen on Friday morning, said Wendy Baimbridge, assistant chief of police.

Several adults who were in the apartment drove the eight-month-old boy to a hospital where he died.

‘I just want to use this moment and plead with parents and guardians not to allow your firearms to be accessible to anyone in the house. Lock them up. There are things you can do to make that weapon safe. Please pray for this family. It is just a tragic event, “said Baimbridge.

Investigators were initially unable to locate the gun used in the shooting, but later found it in the vehicle used by family members to take the baby to the hospital.

Investigators and prosecutors are still investigating whether to file charges in the case, Baimbridge said.
