Authorities on Friday identified the state troop as injured and the man killed by a gunman who set fire to a factory in Bryan on Thursday.
Larry Bollin, 27, shot dead Timothy Smith, a 40-year-old Bryan resident, and wounded five others at a manufacturing facility for Kent Moore Cabinets, according to the Bryan Police Department. Bollin, a Iola resident, is charged with murder and remains in Brazos County jail on a $ 1 million bond.
Bollin will appear before Justice of the Peace Celina Vasquez in Brazos County on Friday afternoon, a court clerk said.
Bollin also shot the troop of Juan Rojas Tovar of the Madisonville Texas Highway Patrol Office while fleeing the authorities. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the soldier was hospitalized Friday morning in a critical but stable condition.
“We continue to hope that his condition will improve and appreciate the very kind thoughts and prayers,” the agency tweeted.
According to Bryan police, two other victims in the shooting at Kent Moore cabinets remained in critical condition and two more were in stable condition. The police did not name them.
Officials could file additional charges against Bollin on Friday, police said.
Police entered the gunman at Stone City Drive 350 and opened fire around 2:30 p.m. Employees said they were bouncing hard and it appears the attacker was targeting specific people.
According to Darren Benson of The Eagle, Bollin emptied the magazine of a gun in the direction of Smith, telling investigators he was cutting wood at his station. The shooter then looked at everyone, reloaded and started shooting again, Benson reported.

Authorities arrested the gunman at about 4:30 p.m., near Bedias, about 35 miles (35 km) east of the original scene. No casualties were reported.
Law enforcement agencies said the investigation was continuing and did not disclose any possible motive.
“There are a lot of layers we’re trying to unfold to make sure we get the answers we need,” Texas DPS lieutenant Craig Cummings said. ‘It’s all part of this ongoing investigation and why we have several Texas Rangers on the scene. We are working on this with our criminal investigation department. ‘
The deadly attack was at least the fourth mass shooting in the US since March 16.
