Ms Sri Lanka speaks out after letting Crown “jerk” out of her head

Mrs Sri Lanka World Winner, Pushpika De Silva, claims she was injured while the crown was “ripped out of her head” at the competition in Colombo on April 4.

According to footage from the broadcast broadcast by the Colombo Gazette, last year’s winner and current Mrs World Caroline Jurie interrupts the ceremony a few moments after De Silva received her title.

“As for Mrs. World Inc., there is a rule that you should get married and not be divorced,” she said. “So, I take my first steps and say that the crown goes to the first runner-up.”

She removes the crown from De Silva’s head and places it on the runner-up.

In a post shared to Facebook on April 5, De Silva wrote that she was divorced from her husband but not divorced. According to the BBC’s translation of Sinhala’s statement, she also wrote that she sustained head injuries after the incident and threatened legal action.
