Dallas County reports 20 coronavirus deaths, 376 new cases; Tarrant County adds ten deaths

Dallas County reported another 20 COVID-19 deaths and 376 new cases of coronavirus on Tuesday.

The youngest victims were mostly in their 60s or older, but included three people in their 30s. Eleven were men and nine were women, and all but one person in their thirties had high-risk health conditions.

Nine of the victims were Dallas residents, three each living in Irving and Mesquite, two are from Rowlett and one each lives in DeSoto, Grand Prairie and Richardson.

District Judge Clay Jenkins said in a written statement that the deaths underscore the importance of vaccinating residents.

“For those who have been fully vaccinated, the chance of being admitted to hospital or dying from COVID-19 is almost zero.” Jenkins said.

Of the new cases, 319 were confirmed and 60 likely. The number brings the total case of the country to 292,743, including 252,975 confirmed and 39,768 likely. The death toll is 3.625.

Due to the holiday weekend, Dallas County reported two days of data on Tuesday.

The average number of new daily cases in the province for the past two weeks is 273. For the previous period of 14 days, the average was 297.

Health officials use hospitalizations, intensive care visits and emergency visits as key statistics to track the real-time impact of COVID-19 in the country. In the 24-hour period that ended Monday, 200 COVID-19 patients were in acute care in hospitals across the country. During the same period, there were 340 ER visits for symptoms of the disease.

According to the state, 721,730 people in Dallas County received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 406,660 – 20.1% of the population aged 16 and older – were fully vaccinated.

Texas

Across the state, another 5,771 cases were reported, including 4,167 new cases and 1,604 older cases recently reported by laboratories.

The state also reported 73 COVID-19 deaths, which increased its toll to 47,822.

Of the new cases, 3,365 were confirmed and 802 likely. Of the older cases, 778 were confirmed and 826 likely.

The state’s case is now 2,800,500, including 2,408,440 confirmed and 391,814 likely.

There are 2,882 patients with COVID-19 in Texas hospitals, including 561 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. On Monday, 3.7% of patients in the hospital region covering the Dallas-Fort Worth area were COVID-19 patients – below the 15% threshold used by the state to define high hospitalizations.

The seven-day average positivity rate across the country for molecular tests, based on the date of collection of the test sample, was 5.4% as of Monday. For antigen tests, the positivity rate for the same period was 3.3%. A molecular test is considered more accurate and is sometimes also called a PCR test; an antigen test is also called a rapid test. Gov. Greg Abbott said a positive percentage of more than 10% is cause for concern.

According to the state, 8,307,828 people in Texas received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 4,793,909 – 21.4% of the population aged 16 and older – were fully vaccinated.

Tarrant county

Tarrant County reported 10 deaths and 580 cases on Tuesday.

The province said it reported several cases to new cases on Tuesday due to the holiday weekend.

The latest victims included six men from Fort Worth: one in his 40s, two in their 50s, one in his 70s and two in their 80s. The others were an Arlington man in his 60s, an Azle woman in her 80s, an Euless man in his 70s and a Hurst man in his 60s. All but one had underlying high-risk health conditions.

Of the new cases, 459 were confirmed and 121 likely. That number brings the province’s case to 251,896, including 212,520 confirmed and 39,376 likely. The death toll is 3,324.

According to the province, 159 people with the virus are being admitted to hospital.

According to the state, 483,561 people in Tarrant County received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 319,414 – 19.8% of the province’s population 16 and older – were fully vaccinated.

Collin county

The state on Tuesday added two deaths and 175 cases to the Collin County total.

No details about the latest victims were available.

Of the new cases, 91 were confirmed and 84 likely. That number brings the province’s case to 87,267, including 72,340 confirmed and 14,927 likely. The death toll is 799.

According to the province, 102 people with the virus are being admitted to hospital.

According to the state, 326,495 people in Collin County received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 193,293 – 24.1% of the population aged 16 and older – were fully vaccinated.

Denton county

Denton County reported three deaths and 161 cases on Tuesday.

The most recent victims were a Dallas man in his 40s, a Denton woman in her 70s and a Flower Mound man older than 80.

The newly reported cases bring the province’s case to 72,371, of which 53,603 are confirmed and 18,718 are likely. The death toll is 476.

According to the province, 30 people are being admitted to hospital with the virus.

According to the state, 229,381 people in Denton County received at least one dose of coronavirus vaccine, while 155,558 – 22.3% of the province’s population 16 and older – were fully vaccinated.

The Texas Department of Public Health has taken over reporting for these other North Texas counties. In some provinces, new data is not reported every day.

The latest numbers are:

  • Rockwall County: 11,170 cases (9,106 confirmed and 2,064 probable), 149 deaths.
  • Kaufman County: 15,568 cases (13,097 confirmed and 2,471 probable), 246 deaths.
  • Ellis County: 22,183 cases (18,621 confirmed and 3,562 probable), 309 deaths.
  • Johnson County: 19,382 cases (16,567 confirmed and 2,815 probable), 360 deaths.
