During a last-minute meeting on Sunday, city officials voted the issue from 8pm to 6pm for a week – a day after Raul Aguila, the interim city manager, declared a state of emergency.

Officials have warned that the evening clock along the famous South Beach could possibly last until April if necessary.
They also noted that the crowd of springbreakers was not the usual college mass, but adults who wanted to let go in one of the few states that were completely open during the pandemic.
This past weekend, police tried to apply the unorthodox evening clock, using peppercorns to restrain the crowd. This caused a rush.
