A primary school in West Sussex, England, has warned parents that they have picked up their children in miniskirts, low-tops and other clothing that “looks like underwear”, according to The sun.
In a letter sent to families by Seymour Primary School, entitled “Playground Etiquette”, parents are reportedly asked to dress appropriately when dropping off or picking up their children. “The clothes that are too skinny or for other times of the day are not a good example,” reads the letter, according to The Sun.
The reaction among parents was mixed according to the tabloid. “I saw moms in dressing gowns and slippers, and one on a cold spring day a translucent mini-skirt and a crop top – you could literally see everything,” The sun quoted one as said. Another apparently called the letter ‘over’ and took offense at his tone.
In response, the school issued a statement to a local news agency, the Crawley Observer, who delivered a story and pointed out that the letter generated ‘national news’. “Although well intended as a guideline,” the statement said, “the school acknowledges that the wording could have been less prescriptive.”
