Necromunda: Leased Rifle Revealed via Microsoft Store Page

A new first-person campaign shooter in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, Necromunda: Hired Gun, has been leaked by a Microsoft Store entry. The store page, currently still available to view at the time of writing, features a single-player FPS set in the planet-sized hive city of Necromunda in which players take on the role of a treasure hunter. Players are accompanied by a upgraded cybermastiff companion, and the description promises an endless customization of weapons and accessories.

“Choose your contracts. Hunt for your targets. Get the abundance.” read the caption, which suggests that there is some freedom in the way you take work in Necromunda: Hired Gun. The few other details also explain that your dog is capable of sniffing out and killing enemies for you, and that a wrestling hook enables a quick passage through the “massive” environments of the game.

A pre-order package, known as the Hunter’s Bounty Pack, contains a unique knife, outfit skin and the classic 40k weapon, the stun gun. It also has a ‘new look’ for the cyber mastiff toy, indicating how we will communicate with the robot dog.

The game is being developed by Streum On Studio, the developer responsible for the Warhammer 40,000 game Space Hulk: Deathwing in 2016. It will be published by Focus Home Interactive and will be released on June 1, according to this store page.

Twitter account Idle Sloth managed to track down five screenshots from the game, featuring an action-packed shooter that includes a variant of a plasma cannon, as well as the cyber-mast in action and … is it a Cawdor Bomb Delivery Gear ? Among the well-known Necrumda walker we also see what is clearly a Luther cartridge excavation machine “Ambot” which is also loaded on the player.

At the moment, we only know about Xbox Series X / S and Xbox One platforms for the game, as these are the only ones listed in the Microsoft Store. We’ll have to wait for an official announcement to see if PC and PlayStation formats are also supported. For more Warhammer, check out our interview with the makers of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, and the news that a whole bunch of free Warhammer games will be free with the next White Dwarf magazine.
