Los Angeles County has reached the red level today, which means LA officials are likely to allow it restaurants to resume indoor dining on Monday with some limitations.

Restaurants must:

  • Works with 25% capacity or does not seat more than 100 people (whichever is the lowest)
  • Spacers 8 feet apart
  • Do not seat more than 6 people at the table
  • Forbid people from different households to sit at the same table (although not many restaurants can do to confirm and enforce this)

Food jobs at indoor shopping malls will also once again be able to make customers sit and eat under the skin-strengthening glow of a Sbarro sign – as long as the food court does not exceed 25%.

According to officials, restaurants in Long Beach, which has its own health department, could also open indoor operations on Monday.

The city of Pasadena, which also has its own health department, will also allow restaurants to resume indoor dining on Monday. announcement from the Pasadena Department of Public Health.

After today’s move into the red level – which occurred when California administered 2 million COVID-19 vaccines in the most severely affected communities – the LA County Department of Public Health needs to change the public health order so businesses can reopen. Officials could pull the trigger sooner or later, but the formal reopening will likely take place Monday.

In more good news, California recently eased restrictions breweries, wineries and distilleries that do not serve food can reopen outside in provinces in the purple and red levels, it starts Saturday 13 March. (Previously, these businesses had to wait until future levels would reopen.)

Breweries, wineries and distilleries must:

  • Requires advance reservations
  • Limit visits to 90 minutes
  • End alcohol use at 20:00

Provinces, however, have the ability to amend state rules to make them stricter, and health department officials in LA may decide to do so.

If you are confused because your neighborhood bar was open during most of the pandemic, we do not blame you. Breweries and wineriess serving food are classified as restaurants and follow the rules that allow earlier reopening.

  • Indoor shopping malls can increase capacity to 50% and their food courts can reopen 25%.
  • Museums, zoos and aquariums can also open within 25%
  • Gymnasiums, fitness centers, yoga and dance studios can open indoors with a capacity of 10%. Masks are still needed.

Enjoy the meal.
