The state of Ohio will be without appetizer on Saturday.
Senior forward Kyle Young has been ruled out of the Big Ten tournament semifinal against Michigan.
Kyle Young van @OhioStateHoops will not be available today for the game against Michigan. He suffered a concussion in the second half against Purdue on Friday. Kyle has entered medical records from Ohio State and will be evaluated daily.

He took an unintentional elbow to the head of forward Trevion Williams in the second half of the Buckeyes’ 87-78 victory over Purdue, which left him after a few possessions. Head athletics coach Brad Watson evaluated him in and behind the bench area, eventually taking Young back to the locker room. After the game, Holtmann confirmed that his forward was being evaluated for concussion.
It is unclear how long he will not be available and whether there is a chance he will play in Sunday’s Big Ten championship game if the state of Ohio advances one more round. According to Ohio State Rep. Dan Wallenberg, Young has “entered Ohio State medical records and will be evaluated daily.”
Either way, Ohio State will have to win Sunday without Young, who scored an 18-point career high against Purdue. Defending Michigan’s front line, led by 1-yard center Hunter Dickinson, will be a double for EJ Liddell and freshmen Zed Key. These two will have to play significant minutes so that the Buckeyes can achieve an upset victory and move on with the tournament.
Young has now suffered two concussions this season and missed the Buckeyes’ game on Feb. 25 against Michigan State after putting a shot to the head in the final seconds of Ohio State’s first game against Michigan.
Michigan will also be without a key player for Saturday’s game, as the Wolverines announced on Saturday morning that Isaiah Livers – their second leading scorer – has been away indefinitely due to a stress injury in his right foot.
