Former President Donald Trump made a surprise appearance on Friday during a fundraiser for dogs held in Mar-a-Lago – a rare observation of the 45th president alive after the White House.
WPTV captured images of Trump wearing a ‘Make America Great Again’ hat, which quickly appeared at a fundraiser for a rescue mission to remove dogs from the meat market in China.
GRAHAM BACK LARA TRUMP FOR SENATE IN NC, AS WALKER BACK
“So, I did not exactly prepare for this,” Trump added, saying he walked by and heard people shouting. ‘But I walked by and I heard everyone in the ballroom screaming and I said’ what’s going on? and they said ‘we’re going to help dogs’ and that’s fine with me. ‘
He praised Lara Trump, who attended, adding, “I do not know, you are running for the Senate?”
“What you do is so important and so wonderful, and so important, and I’m 100% with you, and we’ve had a lot of meetings in the White House and the Oval Office, dealing with rescuing dogs and that’s what we want to do, ”Trump said in images and video captured by WPTV reporter TA Walker.
He said “tremendous progress has been made.”
A source familiar with Trump’s schedule confirmed that he attended the event to Fox News, and the group that manages the fundraiser – Big Dog Ranch Rescue – issued a statement about the event.
“President Trump visited the event and thanked those who attended for their support in helping Big Dog Ranch Rescue save 47,000 dogs to date,” spokesman Chase Scott told Fox News. “The crowd responded with standing ovations to President Lara Trump and Lauree Simmons for the work they have done to pass the first national animal cruelty bill in American history.”
“The fundraiser was sold out and was therefore spread over two days to give up social support and raise funds to rescue abused, abandoned and injured dogs and to bring dogs out of China who would otherwise be the victims of the horrific dog meat trade,” he said. .
