LA County will facilitate COVID-19 ‘this week’, public health officials say

The director of public health in Los Angeles County, dr. Barbara Ferrer, said today that the country in the most populous province is expected to move ‘towards the end of the week’ into the less restrictive red level of the state, beating previous projections ‘end’ of the month. health officials have boasted before. The move is not entirely unexpected (and has not yet been completely formalized), given the many, many tips from public officials like dr. Ferrer and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti on the wider reopening last week.

Once formalized, the move to the red level means that restaurants can offer up to 100 total eateries, depending on the least, within 25 percent of the total business capacity (based on the certificate of occupancy). Outdoors will also continue to exist at current levels, along with the existing social distancing and COVID-19 protocols for workers and meals.

“If the adjusted business rate remains below this week [10 cases per 100,000 residents], our understanding is that LA County would be moved to the red level within 48 hours of the state announcing that the vaccination system had been reached and would be allowed to reopen additional activities, ‘Dr Ferrer said just this hour in a media – only press conference.

As Eater noted last week, the move comes on the heels of a state-led effort to redistribute a few doses of vaccines to hard-hit communities. Once two million total doses have been redistributed, the state will announce a change in the data thresholds it uses to move between restriction levels for each country; raising the data threshold means Los Angeles County will automatically fall into the red level.

Again, a formal start date for the return to indoor dining as part of the red level has not yet been announced, although it is possible that the news may come as early as tomorrow as part of California Gov. Gavin Newsom, in the state of the state’s public. address. “This week we will be preparing changes to the public health order to move to the red level”, said dr. Ferrer said. Restaurants that want to eat indoors should at least start preparing now. This is an evolving story.
