There is no denying that the most entertaining part of the Chicago Bears season was the quarterback search that stretched over several months and by several notable players.
While players like Matthew Stafford and Carson Wentz have found new homes, the Bears continue to search for the team’s first true franchise quarterback during a year where Ryan Pace, general manager, and Matt Nagy, head coach, might be on their way if Chicago was 8. 8 again.
Therefore, you would expect a big splash from the Bears at quarterback this season. Two of the names that have been floating around include Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson of Seattle, both players who are currently not on the trading block, according to their respective franchises.
Good morning footballKyle Brandt believes the Bears are going to do “something that shocks us” regarding the quarterback’s position.
“I think it could be something crazy,” he said.
Although there are a number of free agent options, including the recently released Alex Smith, Brandt believes it’s going to be a big name targeting Chicago.
“I don’t think the Bears fullback will be the fruit hanging low,” Brandt said. ‘I do not think it will be Carson Wentz. I do not think it’s going to be Alex Smith, it’s not going to be Mitch, it’s not going to be Foles. I think it’s going to be something that shocks us in a way that shocked JJ Watt to the Cardinals. I do not think people tweet about it. I think it could be something insane.
‘The things being thrown now – Atlanta has the number 4 pick, do they take a quarter? If so, what are they doing with Matt Ryan? The Las Vegas Raiders, not just one of their backs, both (Derek Carr and Marcus Mariota). I think if we sit here and find out who the Bears fullback is going to be, I do not think it will be: ‘Oh yeah, that was the one we’re talking about. I think it’s going to be a shock, and I think they winked at it yesterday. “
Although Pace has said “everything’s on the table” regarding the quarterback position, it’s hard to believe Chicago will go back to Nick Foles or Mitchell Trubisky will re-sign with Pace and Nagy’s posts in 2021.
The Bears’ top-two targets are not even available, which could certainly complicate matters in the free agency and the NFL draft. If they can not trade for someone like Wilson or Watson according to the concept, then do they trade to choose their husband?
One thing is for sure: the quarterback drama has just begun.
