Pepe Le Pew absent from ‘Space Jam 2’

The controversial Looney Tunes skunk character was scrubbed off the Lebron James lead role more than a year ago.

Pepé Le Pew will not appear Space Jam 2, a source confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

The controversial Looney Tunes skunk character was kicked off the LeBron James starring role more than a year ago.

The news of the character’s absence from the Warner Bros. movie broke out Sunday night, days after a New York Times an opinion piece evoked the character, among others problematic cartoon characters, in the wake of dr. Seuss Enterprises which announced that it would publish six books due to racist and insensitive imagery.

In the Times opinion, Charles M. Blow said that Pepé Le Pew “normalized rape culture.”

The character was in Space jam, who played NBA living legend Michael Jordan. It is unclear whether the cartoon character will be completely retired.

Space Jam 2 must appear on July 16, 2021.
