iMac Pro can no longer be customized, available ‘while stocks last’

It looks like Apple is about to discontinue the iMac Pro, with the all-in-one Mac store page, with a ‘While Inventory’ tagline and only the base model with no custom configurations available for purchase not.

The ‌iMac Pro‌ was launched in December 2017, and although there have been some adjustments to the available configurations over the years, it has not received any significant hardware updates during its lifetime. As a result, we have been recommending users not to buy the ‌iMac Pro‌ for some time, as a high standard iMac currently offers better value.

There have been some rumors over the years of an updated ‌iMac Pro‌, including from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, almost exactly a year ago.

It is unclear whether the ‌iMac Pro‌ will be discontinued altogether or whether Apple will sell in advance through an update through existing stock, but the unusual remark about the dwindling stock suggests that the machine is indeed about to stop completely. When an updated version arrives, it appears that it may not be ready for launch for some time, and that there may be a gap in availability once the current model is sold out.

(Thanks, Ben!)
