Meghan Markle feels ‘liberated’ to finally speak for herself

Meghan Markle said the palace could not speak to Oprah Winfrey in person in 2018, but that she now feels ‘liberated’ to speak her mind after Megxit, according to an excerpt from her and Prince Harry’s highly anticipated interview.

In a portion of the tell-all that was teased on “CBS This Morning” on Friday, Winfrey recalls that she only reached out to Markle in February or March 2018 for an interview before the royal wedding.

“And finally we have to sit down and have this conversation,” Winfrey said in the interview, which airs Sunday at 8pm on CBS ‘Oprah with Meghan And Harry: A Primetime Special.

“Well, I remember the conversation very well,” Markle replied. “I may not even have that conversation with you personally, right.”

“There were other people in the room when I had that conversation,” Winfrey said.

“Yes, even on the call,” Markle replied.

He suggested it was not her choice, and Markle dismissed Winfrey, saying it was “not the right time,” which the veteran journalist asked to ask now, “What is right at this time? “

After a long pause, Markle replies, ‘Well, so many things. That we are on the other side of a lot of life experience that has happened. And also that we have the ability to make our own choices in a way that I would not be able to say yes to you then. It was not my choice to make.

‘So, as an adult who has lived a very independent life to then go to this construct that is different from what I think people think, it’s really liberating to have in some ways the right and the privilege to be in be able to say yes. ”

“And to say it myself,” Winfrey climbed in.

“I’m ready to talk. To say it myself, ”Markle added.

Winfrey’s unauthorized interviews with Markle and Harry also affect racism and mental health, as well as what drove the couple to become famous from Buckingham Palace last year.
