Whether you own, rent or just live in a house, you need to know about Nate Berkus. But who are we kidding? Natural you already know him from his many, very appearance on Oprah, which in turn led to its own day-to-day program. The superstar interior designer and honcho at Nate Berkus Associates also has his name on a bunch of amazing lifestyle and household products and is a prolific author.

Long story short: if it’s about making your home a nicer, smarter or more comfortable place, Berkus is the man with the plan. And now he is here to help when we need him most.

With the pandemic we all needed something – anything – to spice up our homes (and our moods), Berkus was kind enough to share some of his secrets for a good quarantine life.

Step one: create a soothing environment. Even the walls of your living space can unknowingly increase your stress level, and who needs it?

“Here’s the thing,” says Berkus, “we all now look at our homes and think: how can we make it more relaxing?” The answer? ‘Neutral paint colors like marble, cream, pale gray, ivory, they just helped to block out the noise outside. ”

Berkus offers Behr’s River Rock Gray interior latex for an excellent look for your hallway, bedroom or study. The semi-gloss finish gives light reflection for spaces that do not reach the sun and makes it extra easy to clean.

Full disclosure. The Careyes (car-AY-ess) candle is the creation of Berkus’ co-interior designer, and her husband, Jeremy Brent. We endorse this elegant accessory because of its aromatic fan of vanilla, cinnamon bark, sweet mandarin and dried thyme, which brings a delicious (also vegan and paraben- and cruelty-free) walk in the woods to any living space.

“It smells absolutely delicious,” says Berkus. “It calms me down.”

For many people, the silver lining is the pandemic that has rediscovered the joy of reading. Good for you! It’s now time to sharpen your game with the light book of Bright Light. This is what Berkus did:

“It was a lifesaver for me through the pandemic. I use it every night to read in bed. “And why not? The range of 2 to 10 lumens means you can adjust the brightness to your personal specifications. It takes up to 60 hours at a charge (that’s right, no run) to the battery store; plug the USB cord only for an hour in and you are ready to go).

Oh, and the focused bar will be a boost for your early-rising partner, or as Berkus puts it: “It lights up your page and makes no one else in bed angry with you.” Comes in blue, green, lavender, purple, white and black.

“There’s a big fad in functional drinks,” Berkus explains, and he opted for Driftwell’s Enhanced Water Beverage, the superhero of thirst quenchers. It has magnesium, a subtle blackberry-lavender scent, and L’Theanine promotes chlilaxing.

What does it not have? Sugar, calories or carbonation. How is it for a refreshing change? “We’ve been super stressed lately,” says Berkus. “so it’s part of my relaxation ritual.”

“Anything that comes in a glass tube should not be thrown away,” says Berkus. .

Use it to make your reds breathe before eating or to make your whites look more expensive than they really are. Or do as Berkus and try it with it other life-sustaining elixir: “Recycle it and use it for fresh water on your nightstand. I grab it five times a night.”
