Sunny Hostin, co-presenter of The View, on Friday agreed with President Biden’s remark that Republican governors who reopened states and overturned mask mandates were engaging in ‘Neanderthal thinking’ because they chose not to ‘listen to the government’ not.
Hostin, a trusted liberal voice in the program, said Biden “has every right” to feel that way about Republican leaders from Texas and Mississippi, who this week announced plans to lift capacity restrictions and end mandates.
“All the pearl grip on language is really something to me when you had four years of someone speaking in the lowest terms and degrading people and humiliating people,” she said. “I think President Biden has every right to feel that way. He has suffered a tremendous loss. Americans have suffered a tremendous loss, more than 500,000 lost souls.
“We’re almost changing, but we only have about 15.6%, 16.3% of the total population vaccinated, and we know we need 70 to 80% of the population to be vaccinated for herd immunity. The question of the Biden government had to wear masks for the first 100 days of its administration. ‘

Hostin said she agrees that it is ‘neanderthal thinking’ to remove the mask mandates now.
“Do not listen to the government and do not listen to science, most importantly,” she said. “I think I would have honestly said it was a worse thing than Neanderthal thinking.”

Reversing mask mandates does not mean people can not mask, as Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said Thursday. Cases and hospitalizations across the country have declined as COVID vaccinations have increased nationwide.
“We are still strongly advocating that every Texan should follow best practice,” he told Fox News. “Where we are today is completely different from where we were last year when Texans and Americans did not know how to handle it for a whole year. In light of the traditional Republican trend of Texas and Mississippi, some conservatives have taken offense at Biden’s language, comparing it to Hillary Clinton who called Donald Trump supporters ‘regrettable’.
“For a president who has called for unity to humiliate himself, it does not make sense at all,” Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte said Friday.
