Marvel’s Avengers increases the grind needed to increase the next update • Eurogamer.net

Cosmetics also work in again.

Developer Crystal Dynamics has announced that it will be harder to increase Marvel’s Avengers as part of the game’s next update.

Crystal Dynamics wrote on the Marvel’s Avengers website explaining that the purpose of its upcoming XP rework is to replace the ‘straight line’ leveling system currently used by the game with a leveling curve. This will result in players needing more XP to increase the level in the game from level 25, with the amount increasing as the level 50 cap approaches, meaning it will take extra time to reach higher character levels.

While it’s tempting to read the increased grind, it’s a cynical attempt to keep players longer in the Avengers’ live service game, but Crystal Dynamics insists that the pace issues with the existing leveling system be rectified, arguing that the speed that the game currently assigns skill. points “for confusing and overwhelming” for newer players. “We want every decision to invest in a skill or heroic to be more meaningful,” it writes.

In something of a tacit acknowledgment, players may not be entirely receptive to the move, Crystal Dynamics suggests: ‘If you have a character who is not level 50 and want to speed up your progress, take time to do so before the update on March 18th. “

In addition to this XP rework, Crystal Dynamics makes changes to the way certain cosmetics are rewarded in the game. It is no longer possible to get random cosmetic drops through strong boxes, from missions, through ascending or from the cosmetics vendor. Instead, players will first have to earn enough units in the game to buy it – a move that, according to the developer, will provide ‘more player agency and clarity’.

This change will require a review by the cosmetics vendor, and many random junk items will be temporarily removed from the game in the next update until development is complete.

Crystal Dynamics’ XP and cosmetics processing comes to Marvel’s Avengers on March 18, along with new playable hero Hawkeye and the long-awaited PS5 and Xbox Series X / S update.
