The masks stay on – at least at Kroger.
The Kroger family of businesses, which is the largest chain of supermarkets in America, has announced its continued mask requirements – from both employees and customers – despite the recent reversal of the COVID safety policy in two states.
The company’s announcement comes specifically following the governors of Texas and Mississippi, who ended their respective mandates this week.
‘The top priority of the Kroger family of companies in the COVID-19 pandemic was to provide a safe environment for our employees and customers, while meeting our social commitment to open stores, e-commerce solutions and an efficient supply chain so our communities have access to fresh food, “a Kroger spokesman said in an email shared with Fox News.

‘To ensure the continued safety of our customers and co-workers, the Kroger family of companies will continue to require everyone in our stores across the country to wear masks until all our co-workers from the first grocery can get the COVID-19 vaccine received, ‘reads the statement. “We also continue to urge federal, state and local officials to prioritize grocery workers in the first place for the deployment of the vaccine, and we will offer a one-time payment of $ 100 to employees who receive the recommended doses of COVID -19 vaccine received. “

Earlier this week, Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, of Texas, and Tate Reeves, of Mississippi, both announced the lifting of the state mask mandates, as well as the reopening of each state’s affairs at 100% capacity.
Just hours later, President Biden warned of the continuing threat of the coronavirus and the early reversal of COVID security policies.
“Although we’re celebrating the news of a third vaccine, I appeal to all Americans: please keep your hands clean, stay social, wear masks – keep wearing them, get vaccinated if it’s your turn,” he said. Biden said in the White House. “This is not the time to stop.”
