Theodore Seuss Geisel, known as his pseudonym Dr. Seuss, was a writer and stage cartoonist, author of over 60 children’s books. Pese a haber falecido en 1991, su legado sigue siendo fuerte y es, sin dudas, el infantil author mas famoso del país. As far as the first week of March, practically all primary schools and gardens in the United States celebrate the week of Dr. Seuss, en eer a su nacimiento el 2 de marzo de 1904.

However, the most famous authors are being analyzed again and again by the critical eye of a society that changes its parameters of tolerance to social problems such as racism or machismo. The consequence, according to some, is the culture of the cancellation, classic classics like What the Wind of Llevó are present condensed by their content. For some, an exaggeration, for others a logical reaction.

In the series the complete number 121 of Dr. Seuss fue el turno del célebre author. Six of his books, including those including the famous Y Pensar que lo Vi en la Calle Porvenir y Si Yo Dirigiera el Zoológico, Dejarán to be published to contain racist and insensitive images, following a decision made by Dr. Seuss Enterprises, the company that controls the author’s legacy.

On the other hand, the editorial board has received queues during the years of fathers and masters around the content of some of these books. The decision to cancel its sale on Tuesday has passed until the deadline has elapsed before making the announcement.

The books of Dr. Seuss fueron traducidos a decadas de idiomas y se venden in more than 100 countries worldwide. Only in 2020, the author billed 33 million dollars, logging on to second place in the list of celebrities that more money will generate after failing, only to the detriment of Michael Jackson.

If the popularity of Dr. Seuss is indestructible, the critics of racism -about all Asian and African-American people- he was accused by others. The school district of Loudon County, Virginia – very close to the capital of the country – decided to ban in his schools the books of Dr. Seuss el año pasado. In a statement to the press, it stated that “investigations of recent years have revealed that variants of the books written and illustrated by Dr. Seuss has a racist tone ”.

El Gato Ensombrerado, quizas the most popular work by Dr. Seuss also has a blank slate of critics, albeit for the moment following the vendetta.

Social speeches are plagiarized by high opinion polls in favor of and against the decision to sell these books, supporting and opposing the majority’s culture of cancellation.
