- Next launch event is 19:53 ET Tuesday 2 March
SpaceX’s first attempt to launch the rocket on Sunday night was halted by just 1 minute, 24 seconds left. Controllers did not say what caused the shutdown, but only that the payload and rocket ‘stay healthy’.
A second launch event passed on Monday after SpaceX said there were poor weather conditions in the recovery area.
The new launch time is 19:53 on Tuesday, March 2nd. It starts from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center.
The group of Starlink satellites aboard the Falcon 9 will join a fleet of more than 1,000 broadband satellites already in orbit. The satellites will form a network designed to provide ‘reliable and affordable’ internet services around the world.
SpaceX plans to land the first phase of the Falcon 9 rocket launcher on one of its drones in the Atlantic Ocean. If successful, this is the eighth launch and landing for this booster.
