TJ Osborne revealed that he would have come out earlier as a gay man if he had known what positive reaction his friends and fans would have and encouraged other people who may be struggling with their identity to do the same.
The singer, who makes up half of the leading country duo The Brothers Osborne, discussed in public in an interview with Time earlier this month that he is gay and pointed out that he has wanted to go to friends and family for a while, but finally decided to be as open and honest as possible with his fans.
He appeared on Friday with his brother, John, on ‘CBS This Morning’, where he discussed the anxiety he had about the issue and the positive reception he had experienced since he officially had it.

“It was honestly incredible and I would say just to encourage someone else who is dealing with the same thing … It’s hard to describe, and it’s very hard to go through,” the singer explained. ‘After I finally came out, I did not really understand how great people cared for me and loved me and supported me, and if I had known all along, I probably would have done it a long time ago and saved myself a lot. of the dispute. ‘
He added: “Anyone out there, if you are dealing with it, there are people who like you and people who support you, many of them, so feel encouraged by it.”
The singer further noted that since he was a public figure, he believes he could have an easier time coming out as gay than most people. While his close friends and family knew for a while of his sexual orientation, it made the public feel as if something was coming out of the blue.

“To be honest with people out there, it’s really awkward to get out. It’s an awkward thing to talk about. It’s out of the blue and it’s really a weird thing to offer. I work. in the entertainment industry, so I like a lot of attention but not the kind, ” he said. “That kind of attention is weird, it’s just awkward. Being able to do it and do it at that moment, in one fell swoop, was fun. I think for many people they do not come out because to me it is like ‘when do you do it? When do you say that? ‘ for me it was the moment of just a leap in faith. ‘
TJ earlier discussed the outpouring of support he received shortly after coming out during an interview in ‘The Ellen Degeneres Show’.

“I was expecting a surge of love from family and friends. I did not expect it to feel the way it does,” he told the host. “I think it’s one thing if you just know and accept that people like you, and it’s different when you hear it and when you hear it with sincerity.”

Later in the interview, he added, “Right now I feel so incredibly loved and that’s one of the things I’m where I am: ‘God, I wish I could share this love with other people. ‘And then to have people I never even expected to say anything, reach out to me. People I feel like personalizing masculinity and straight culture to the ninth grade, come out with a lot of pride for me. It was really the moment for me that made me feel, ‘Wow, that’s been there all along.’
