Saturday Night Live’s The last sketch of the evening addressed the expected discomfort of dating after pandemic, but the jokes of the actors were staged by a beautiful kitten who kept meowing during the last part of the sketch.
The scene involved SNL cast member Kate McKinnon and the host of the night and musical guest, Nick Jonas, as two strangers meet in a bar during their first time venturing into the (hopefully near!) future after the coronavirus pandemic came to an end.
The two stumble across long unused flirting techniques and awful pick-up lines while trying to get to know each other.
“You have beautiful eyes,” Jonas says, “but they will look better on my floor.”
“I don’t think you said that right,” McKinnon replied, encouraging him to “maybe just try to make a flirty face.”
They then turn to magic tricks to impress each other, with McKinnon first showing a unique way to tie a cherry stem in a knot that she reveals she learned from ‘Hogwarts – kidding! Prison. ”
Instead of taking a bunny out of a hat, Jonas’ trick was to get a kitten out of his coat. The tiny brown tabby meowed as the audience responded with joy.
McKinnon grinned happily as she took Jonas’ meandering kitten and then called the bartender to bring a bowl of milk which she drank instead.
The bartender, played by Aidy Bryant, the kitten sways in her arms as it continues to meow throughout the rest of the sketch.
