An 88-year-old man in France has had his license confiscated because he exceeded the speed limit by more than 90 km / h. The veteran driver told police he hit the gas because he was late for his vaccination.
The man was driving 191 km / h when he was pulled over by officers in the north-eastern region of Bas-Rhin on Thursday. The speed limit of the country road on which he drove is 110 km / h.
The manager “Argued as a reason for his speed that he was late for his anti-Covid vaccine,” said police in a Facebook post.
It was not surprising that the officers determined that this is no excuse for reckless driving, as an accident at such a speed could potentially lead to worse health problems than those caused by the coronavirus.
The elderly speeding devil was eventually confiscated and his car impounded.
“Let us, for everyone’s safety, comply with the speed limits, even after more than 60 years with a driving license,” police said.

Amid supply issues in the EU, France has been criticized for a slow explosion of the vaccine. Only 1.3 million of the nearly 70 million people have received both doses of jab so far.
The program currently favors people over the age of 75 and people with serious health conditions, but according to the local website, many of those eligible for the jab have complained because they have significant difficulty securing appointments at vaccination centers.
Some people said they had been trying to get a groove for weeks, but to no avail. This may explain the elderly driver’s determination to get to his appointment on time.
