LOS ANGELES – Tiger Woods has been transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by Harbor-UCLA Medical Center officials, who was announced late Thursday.
Woods was at Harbor-UCLA Medical, a Level 1 trauma center, after an ankle accident Tuesday that required extensive surgery on his right leg.
‘[Woods] was transferred to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for continued orthopedic care and recovery, ”reads the statement of dr. Anish Mahajan, the interim CEO / CEO of Harbor-UCLA. “On behalf of our staff, it was an honor to provide orthopedic care to one of our generation’s greatest athletes.”
Woods suffered a significant injury to his right leg, including fractures to the upper and lower part of the tibia and fibula. The surgeries included inserting a bar into the tibia, as well as pins and screws in his ankle.
According to various experts, Woods will probably need at least a week to recover before he can travel to South Florida.
