Just as the people at Sony are previewing the future with their latest State of Play event, Xbox players can not sign up at all as the online service has a major disruption. The latest update from 17:00 ET indicates that Microsoft is working on the issue, but does not provide any kind of ETA for when it will be resolved. According to the Xbox Live Status page, the outage started around 3:15 PM ET, and there is still no sign that anything will get better.
update: As of 17:10 ET, the status page’s latest update says “we are close to solving the problem”, so stay tuned.
Update 2: 15 minutes later, and the status is still “near”, so hopefully playing offline (go to the network settings and select “go offline”) works for you, otherwise even single player games are out of the question for now.
Update 3 (18:00): It’s been almost three hours, and although the status quo still says a resolution is near, everything is still offline.
We are aware that users may not be able to sign in to Xbox Live at this time. Our teams are currently investigating to resolve this issue. We will update here and at https://t.co/PzAdjUFMJj when we have more information to share!
