A brand new story from Apple Apple Leaker Jon Prosser has revealed what could be the next design of Apple’s brand new iMac with five color choices. We also looked at Apple’s rumored Mac Pro ‘mini’. Apple is expected to replace its 2020 iMac later this year.

In his latest video, Prosser reports on a redesign of the iMac and that Apple not only has a redesign, but also nostalgia. This is because, in addition to similar design language as Apple’s Pro Display XDR and the new iPad Air, there seem to be some new colors on the way. In a beautiful concept below, Prosser may have unveiled the upcoming redesign of the iMac, based on leaks from various sources.

Prosser says the current prototypes for the new iMac use the same five colors as iPad Air, black, white, green, blue and rose gold. Now, as Prosser notes, these are just prototype machines, so there’s no guarantee that Apple will release all the rumored colors or any of them, although it’s a bit more ‘out there’ than some other Apple designs, than the iPad colors prove popular then Apple might be able to capitalize on the success.

Prosser also shared images of a concept based on Apple’s rumored Mac Pro ‘mini’, which looks a bit like Apple’s old G4 blocks, described by its sources to Prosser as 3-4 Mac Minis that stacked on top of each other.

The news reflects recent reports on Apple’s upcoming iMac plans, most notably from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. From the report:

A new Bloomberg report claims that Apple has a whole range of new products in the manufacture of iMac, Mac Pro and displays. Including a replacement for the popular $ 999 Thunderbolt Display.

Starting with the iMacs, Bloomberg’s report states that Apple is working on versions to replace the existing 21.5-inch and 27-inch models, although it is not clear what the sizes will be for the new models. The report will be completely new, with something more in line with the Pro Display XDR aesthetics.

Gurman says the new models will have much thinner edges and no chin to reflect the design of the Pro Display XDR, along with a flat back as pictured in the latest concept from Prosser. Gurman reports that two new iMacs will replace the current 21.5-inch and 27-inch models.

Not only that, but Gurman also reported, like Prosser, that Apple has a new Mac Pro in the works, at least one of which is a smaller model with Apple silicone:

One version is a direct update of the current Mac Pro and will continue to use the same design as the version launched in 2019. Apple has discussed using Intel processors for the model rather than switching to its own chips.

However, the second version will use Apple’s own processors and be less than half the current Mac Pro. The design has a mostly aluminum exterior and can evoke nostalgia for the Power Mac G4 Cube, a short-lived smaller version of the Power Mac, an earlier version of the Mac Pro.

Apple is also expected to release a new cheaper monitor to replace Apple’s Thunderbolt Display, which was discontinued in 2016.
