In a new interview with GQ, it seems like Jim Ryan of Sony is casting a bit of a shadow on CD Project Red about the disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077 on PS4 and the fact that it was taken out of the PlayStation Store.
In the interview, Jim Ryan talks about the delay of Returnal, this is when he apparently decides to take a chance on the Polish developers’ clumsy release of the RPG for the open world
‘Yes, we feel pretty good about it Return, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Horizon Forbidden West. And you know, there are two approaches to this: you can keep the date and put the game out regardless of the quality, or you can send it if it’s right. We have always followed the latter approach. There have been fairly striking cases that publishers have tried the previous approach. ”
Although CD Project Red or Cyberpunk is not mentioned directly, it is quite clear what he is referring to and indicates that Sony is very irritated about the whole situation and the fact that he had to pull the game and offer refunds, an unprecedented step for the console manufacturer. You can read about why the game was such a mess in our December review.
