2022 Lexus IS500 F Sport gets a 5.0 liter V8

Lexus finally reveals the secret V8 car he has worked on. This time it is not called the IS F, well. All new for 2022, it is now called the IS 500 F Sport.

I have a problem with the name to which I will come a little. But if the specifications are believed, it will definitely be an artist.

The IS500 does not use turbos this fall or superchargers like other car manufacturers. This is all natural at Lexus. Its naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 delivers 472 horsepower and 395 hp lb-ft of torque. Keep in mind that this is the same V8 that sees duty in the RC F and LC coupe.

The power is conducted by the same eight to the rear wheels.speed automatically found in the basic IS models. Do not worry, but it is set for execution. Lexus claims a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds. It will get 24 mpg on the highway.

It is combined with a standard dynamic handling package that should make this thing funa winding roads. It’s weird, but you’d think Lexus would have put more effort into engineering models-specific performance treats for the IS500 instead of having it shared with a more basic model. The only pieces that improve which looks exclusive to the IS500 its larger brakes (14 inches front, 12.7 inches rear) and 19 inches Enkei wheels. Lexus says these wheels are lighter than those of the 350 F Sport.

It will be easy to distinguish the difference between an IS500 and an IS350 on the outside. Its bulging hood, Enkei wheels, rear spoiler and diffuser is specific to the model. And in a nod to the past, Lexus has brought back the IS F’s four-wheel drive exhaust. However, it must be seen whether they are actually linked to something.

Within, the differences are subtle. The IS500 gets a digital instrument cluster, reinforced sports seats, aluminum pedals and a steering wheel with a small F Sport license plate on it. No special decoration, or contrasting stitching or anything else special. By just looking at the interior, you can not really see that it is a performance model. There is ao not a word about prices yet

Although I’m a welcome addition, especially since it has a V8, I have a problem with both the name and the F brand. This model reinforces the type F as a point of viewperformance brand alone is really nothing with Lexus. F originated as a response to the execution of M, AMG, etc. Except that nothing significant ever came of it.

The IS F made headlines and then disappeared, the RC F is a dated artist (was not much of an artist when it debuted) and the GS F is largely forgotten. The brand has since become an all-show no-will decorate for every model in the Lexus range.

This new name on the IS implies it there is a standard IS500 and the model is an F Sport veffect of that model. If F is not going to be something, Lexus needs to come out and say it. Otherwise, this IS500 should be interesting, especially with it to be one of the latest new V8 models before we go into the EV future.
